SiamMAE leverages internet videos for learning visual correspondence [Paper]
Imagine you have two pictures, and you want to find out if they show the same things. But sometimes, it can be really hard to tell because the pictures might be different in many ways. They could have objects covering each other, be taken from different angles, or the objects might look different.
In this paper, the authors came up with a clever way to help computers figure out if two pictures are similar. They created something called Siamese Masked Autoencoders (SiamMAE), which is a special computer program that learns how to match pictures together.
SiamMAE works by taking two random frames from a video and making them look a little bit different. Then, it tries to guess what the missing parts in one of the frames should look like. By doing this, SiamMAE learns to pay attention to how objects move and learn about them.
Even though SiamMAE is a simple idea, it actually works really well. It can do things like finding objects in videos, figuring out where different body parts are, and understanding the meaning of different parts of an object. It does all of this without needing extra tricks or special techniques that other computer programs might use.

Microsoft Co-Founder’s $1.5B+ Sale Highlights “Safe Haven” Asset
Last November, Paul Allen’s historic art collection shattered the record for the largest-ever sale in auction history.
The fact that the blue-chip art market is still setting records amid major drawdowns in financial markets, and macroeconomic turmoil, highlights why it can be such a strong alternative diversifier. In fact, the high-end art market also remained resilient through downturns like the dot-com bubble and Great Financial Crisis in 2008.
But this time around, it’s not just billionaires benefitting.
Thanks to Masterworks. This award-winning investment platform allows people to invest in shares of multi-million dollar art by names like Banksy and Picasso. So far, all 11 of Masterworks’ sales have been profitable, the last 3 realizing 10.4%, 35%, and 13.9% net returns respectively.
